Microparticle Synthesis

PARTICLES WITHOUT CAVITY

ID: BDD20.003.01

DESCRIPTION

Solid, spherical microparticles are:

  • Made with PEG

  • Can be functionalized with various peptides, affinity agents, etc.

  • Compatible with most cells types and flow cytometers.

APPLICATIONS

You can use solid particles at a micrometer scale for a wide variety of applications.

1. Diagnostics:

Perform cheap, easy high-throughput immunoassays.

Advantages: Able to perform high-quality, high-throughput diagnostic assays without the need for large pieces of equipment and/or skilled expertise. Only requires these particles, oil, and standard flow cytometers

Options: These particles can contain functional groups (e.g. biotin) such that capture groups and amplification agents can be attached.

Method: By agitating the particles with oil and solution containing your desired target, you can form droplets instrument-free and amplify signals to perform immunoassays at a digital level. The particles can then be run through FACS for screening.

2. Tissue Engineering:

Anneal particles together to form a scaffold for tissue engineering applications.

Advantages: The uniform pores in between particles provide space for cells to grow and for the diffusion of gas/nutrients, providing better cell growth characteristics than other tissue scaffolds.
